On Thursday, 17 April 2025, the RSS Infrastructure team took to the pitch at Sportsco Football Club for a brilliant evening of football, fundraising, and community spirit, going head-to-head with GMI Construction in a friendly yet fiercely contested Charity Football Match.
The match was not just about the game, but about the community coming together for a greater cause. It brought together colleagues, families, and supporters to raise funds and awareness for two outstanding organisations: Comfort Cases UK and Birmingham Children’s Trust. It was a closely fought contest on the pitch, but RSSI came out on top with a 5–2 victory, sealed by two late goals as fatigue took hold. Captain Gavin Hurren proudly lifted the trophy, while Kenny Welch was awarded Man of the Match for his phenomenal performance in goal.
So far, we’ve raised an impressive £2,850, with even more coming in thanks to continued donations through our GoFundMe campaign and Amazon Wishlist. This significant amount is helping children entering the care system receive essential, comforting items at a time of crisis. It’s a testament to our collective effort and the impact we can make when we come together for a cause.
Supporters can also get involved by entering our FA Cup Semi-Final Charity Raffle. For just a small donation, you could win two premium Club Wembley tickets to the Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace match on Saturday, 26 April, plus a £60 food and drink voucher. Entries close at 12PM on Wednesday 23 April, and all proceeds go to Comfort Cases UK.

Special thanks go to Alex, Dawn, and Natalie from Birmingham Children’s Trust for their support, and to Sarah Scott, Jenn Byrne, Leanda Waring, and Emma Belgrave, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and on the day to make the event a success.
Reflecting on the occasion, Sarah Scott shared:
“It was so positive to see people coming together to support children in care and to work alongside Comfort Cases UK and Birmingham Children’s Trust. Events like this help forge new partnerships and friendships. I’d like to thank everyone who came along to support the match, as well as the team at Sportsco and the stallholders who gave the whole evening a real sense of community and fun.”
We are proud to support Comfort Cases UK and Birmingham Children’s Trust—two remarkable organisations dedicated to improving the lives of children in care and ensuring every young person feels valued, supported, and seen.
