Armed Forces Day 2018

 

June is the month in which the country comes together to celebrate ‘Armed Forces Day’. On Tuesday the 26th June, Auctus Management Group hosted an afternoon of activities that brought together a number of local cadet forces from the Aston University Engineering Academy. The event was hosted by Davie Carns, Head of Major Projects for RSS Infrastructure, who provided a series of tasks for the cadets testing their mental and physical abilities.

 

The afternoon began with a ‘vintage sports day’ where the cadets took part in relay activities, they competed in two teams. This task was run by Greg Fearon, Resource Co-ordinator at the Midland Metro Alliance. Next on the agenda for the cadets was a memory and concentration task ran by Davie Carns, whose task encouraged participants to work collaboratively and develop their lateral-thinking in order to win a prize. The afternoon ended on (The Tyre Task) which provided a fun end to the afternoon by using the skills they had developed in both the first and second task to join together as a team and win the final game.

Throughout the week there has been many events in which Auctus Management Group have networked and engaged with the Armed forces, Richard Toy CEO attended a private dinner on the 26th of June for 15 people, including Armed Forces heads. Attendance of this dinner was to discuss development of relationships between the local armed forces units and University, Chamber of Commerce, Local businesses.

 

Rachel Green, Business Development Manager at INFRA Skills (A subsidiary of Auctus Management Group) and Lee Stokes, recruitment consultant at RSS Infrastructure (Another Subsidiary of Auctus Management Group) attended two events focused on helping The Army Reserves enter employment.

Auctus Management Group are strong supporters of the British Armed Forces. The company has worked in partnership with the Armed Forces Covenant and the Career Transition Partnership to develop a series of initiatives, such as; tailored rail training packages designed to provide learners with a number of competencies that will help them standout within the sector as well as providing help and advice on how to integrate themselves back into civilian life, this in turn led to the Group winning the silver Army Covenant Award.
