ISO9001 Recertification and NHSS Accreditations

RSSI Secures ISO 9001 Recertification & NHSS Accreditations

RSS Infrastructure (RSSI) is proud to announce the successful recertification of ISO 9001 with our new UKAS-accredited body. This significant achievement demonstrates our unwavering commitment to maintaining exceptional quality management systems (QMS) across all aspects of our operations. Additionally, we have successfully achieved audits for National Highways Sector Schemes (NHSS) 2A and 18, further reinforcing our dedication to high standards in infrastructure services.

Over the course of five days, our HSQE team worked diligently to prepare, support, and successfully pass these audits. Special recognition goes to Tony Ellis (Head of HSQE), Liam Dudley (HSQE Apprentice), and Steve Milroy (HSQE Advisor) for their outstanding contributions throughout the process.

What Does ISO 9001 Recertification Mean for RSSI?

ISO 9001:2015 is the internationally recognised standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS), focusing on key principles such as customer satisfaction, process improvement, and regulatory compliance. The successful recertification means that:

  • Our internal processes meet globally recognised quality standards.
  • We continue to enhance efficiency, consistency, and customer satisfaction.
  • RSSI remains a trusted provider in the rail, civils, and infrastructure sectors.
  • We are committed to continuous improvement and risk-based thinking in all projects.

Achieving this recertification ensures that our clients and partners can rely on consistently high-quality service delivery, backed by a robust framework for managing business operations.

Understanding NHSS Accreditations: Enhancing Safety and Compliance

In addition to ISO 9001:2015 recertification, RSSI has been successfully audited to National Highways Sector Schemes (NHSS) 2A and 18. These sector-specific quality management frameworks supplement ISO 9001 by providing enhanced safety, competency, and compliance measures for infrastructure projects.

NHSS 2A – Fencing for Highways Infrastructure

This scheme ensures the highest standards in the design, supply, installation, and repair of fencing along highways. Key requirements include:

  • Adherence to the Specification for Highway Works (SHW).
  • Competency certification for personnel working on fencing projects.
  • Risk management and quality control measures to enhance roadside safety.
  • Compliance with Highways Agency contractual obligations.
  • NHSS 2A plays a crucial role in ensuring that fencing along highways is safe, durable, and environmentally responsible.

NHSS 18 – Landscaping and Environmental Management

NHSS 18 governs landscape maintenance, ecological conservation, and land-based activities. Its key requirements include:

  • Full compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
  • Rigorous health and safety protocols.
  • Standards for biodiversity preservation and sustainable landscaping.
  • Competency verification for all personnel involved in land management activities.

This accreditation supports environmental sustainability by ensuring that landscaping and ecological projects meet best practice standards, enhancing both safety and visual aesthetics in infrastructure projects.

The Importance of ISO 9001 Accreditation for Our Clients

For our clients and partners, these accreditations mean:

  • Enhanced safety and compliance in all RSSI projects.
  • Assurance that best-in-class processes are being followed.
  • Increased confidence in our commitment to quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Compliance with government and industry regulations, ensuring seamless project execution.

As a leader in infrastructure solutions, we continuously strive to set industry benchmarks in safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.

A Team Effort: Recognising Our HSQE Leaders

The success of these audits would not have been possible without the dedication and expertise of our HSQE team. Special thanks go to:

  • Tony Ellis (Head of HSQE) for his leadership and strategic oversight.
  • Liam Dudley (HSQE Apprentice) for his diligence in preparation.
  • Steve Milroy (HSQE Advisor) for his guidance and support throughout the audit process.

Their hard work and commitment to excellence have played a vital role in securing these certifications and maintaining RSSI’s reputation as a trusted infrastructure partner.
