On January 10th and 11th, members of the RSS Infrastructure (RSSI) team—Monica Barbosa, Annmarie Shelley, Tom Harris, and Christian Evans—embraced freezing temperatures to participate in Coventry and Warwickshire’s annual Christmas tree collection. This initiative, benefiting ”Pass the Smile for Ben”, raises critical funds for research into rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer. Supported by the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group, the effort focuses on advancing treatments and providing family support.
A Collaborative Effort for Community Impact
The 2024 collection marked another successful partnership between ”Pass the Smile for Ben” and ”The Myton Hospices”. Over the weekend, 3,562 trees were collected and recycled sustainably, generating vital funds for these worthy causes while contributing to environmental sustainability.
Myton Hospices plays an essential role in delivering compassionate end-of-life care and support for families. By collaborating with ”Pass the Smile for Ben”, the event provided a meaningful way for the community to contribute to these impactful organisations while responsibly disposing of Christmas trees.
RSSI’s Commitment to Making a Difference
Joining other dedicated volunteers, the RSSI team supported the seamless collection and recycling of trees. Despite the cold, the shared sense of purpose created an uplifting experience. Monica Barbosa, Client Services Director, reflected on the event:
“Participating in this initiative for a second year has been incredibly rewarding. Collaborating with such passionate individuals to support research into childhood cancer and local hospice care is a privilege. Every effort made out in the cold felt truly worthwhile, knowing it contributes to these essential causes.”
Funds raised will aid groundbreaking research into rhabdomyosarcoma and ensure the continued provision of care by Myton Hospices, reinforcing RSSI’s ethos of community support and responsibility.
