Multiple Access Points
Our team created access points on both sides of the bridge. We installed track crossing points at the bridge entrance to allow heavy plant to cross the track when required.
In the Civils and Construction division, safety, expertise, and professionalism are at the core of everything we do. Led by Dave Bamford, our Head of Civils and Construction, our diverse and skilled workforce has extensive knowledge of rail and civils construction principles. We work hard to ensure the success of the most complex projects, resulting in an unrivalled reputation for quality, safety, and reliability.
Our multi-skilled teams are highly trained, competent and have extensive experience working on a wide range of rail and civils construction projects. All of our workforces hold either Personal Track Safety (PTS), Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) competencies. This ensures that our workforce is well-equipped to work on rail infrastructure and civils projects safely and efficiently.
Specific training, dependent on the job role, such as Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) and Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), is undertaken to supplement their core skills. We understand the importance of investing in our workforce’s skills and competencies to ensure that we can deliver the highest quality work for our customers.

Access points are essential to railway construction projects, allowing workers to enter and exit without disrupting train services. Proper planning and management of these access points ensures rail workers’ and the public’s safety.
ALO (Any Line Open) planning manages the safe movement of vehicles and workers during construction. Planning and coordinating activities to ensure rail worker and public safety. ALO planning is essential for every rail construction project, and its management is crucial for success.
Cable management organises, labels, and protects wires. This makes locating and maintaining these components straightforward. To manage cables, we deploy ducts or cable troughs.
Cable pulls are essential to any rail construction project because they transmit power and communication signals. Guide cables into conduits or troughs, secure them to structures, and label and organise them.
Catch pit renewals involve replacing or repairing catch pits, which collect water from construction sites. These pits protect railway lines, equipment, and other infrastructure against flood damage. Wear and tear may require upgrades.
Concrete and stone access roads are required for material transport. Haul roads are built for heavy loads and frequent use. These roadways are made of concrete or stone to withstand the elements.
Drainage and V Ditch enhancements are vital for construction site maintenance and operation, notably in the rail sector to reduce water damage from erosion. These improvements can involve repairing, upgrading, or installing new systems.
Train drivers use driver walkways on rail sector work sites. These walkways allow drivers to access trains and navigate the project site safely. Safe and efficient rail construction requires proper planning and construction of drivers’ walkways.
Excavation involves removing earth or other materials to form a shape or foundation for a rail or construction project. This work may be needed to prepare a site for construction, create foundations, or expose underground services.
Fencing is an important element on construction sites, especially in the rail sector, since it defines borders, provides security, and ensures worker and public safety. Temporary or permanent fences can be created from many materials.
Civil and construction projects require kerbing and paving. It ensures safe, convenient facilities for all users, particularly pedestrians. A well-maintained kerbing and paving system ensures accessibility and reliability.
Laydown and compounds are areas for storing construction materials and equipment to enhance efficiency and safety. These areas help civil and construction projects organise, secure, and protect materials.
Construction and maintenance of level crossings is essential for the safe and effective functioning of road and rail transportation systems. Level crossings ensure rail traffic efficiency and public safety.
Lineside fencing ensures the safe and efficient operation of rail infrastructure. It prevents people and animals from entering the lines, provides visible obstacles, and indicates railway property boundaries.
Create bases for secure Location Cabinets (LOC) and Functional Supply Points (FSP) required to support S&T infrastructure.
Reinforced concrete bases support rail tracks, signal boxes, and other infrastructure. This structure is made of concrete reinforced with steel or other metals to increase strength and lifespan.
Retaining walls keep soil and other materials from sliding or collapsing. Construction and maintenance of these walls, used to support rail tracks, roads, and other infrastructure, requires specialised knowledge and techniques.
Road Rail Access Points (RRAPs) enable maintenance and construction vehicles to access railway tracks. These points let workers complete tasks more efficiently. Planning and managing RRAPs improves rail workers’ access and safety.
Signal bases support train-controlling signalling equipment on the rail infrastructure. Their construction and maintenance require specialised expertise and skills.
Construction site management involves planning, coordinating, and overseeing. Effective site management involves coordinating the work of contractors and teams and completing projects on schedule and within budget. Site management includes implementing safety protocols and resolving project concerns.
Troughing routes and renewal involve designing, constructing, and maintaining systems to protect electrical and communication cables along railway tracks. These systems consist of channels or troughs excavated alongside to railway lines to create a safe environment for cables by enclosing them.
UTX/URX and platform works refer to platform construction and maintenance. UTX/URX refers to conduit crossings under tracks or roads.
