RSS Infrastructure acquires Carillion Welding

RSS Infrastructure acquires Carillion Welding

RSS Infrastructure (RSSI), a leading supplier of infrastructure services, has successfully brokered a deal to acquire one of the UK’s largest welding specialists, Carillion Welding. This acquisition has saved 63 jobs across four locations in the UK.

Transformative Changes in the UK Infrastructure Sector

Following the collapse of Carillion PLC, the UK infrastructure sector is undergoing significant changes, rapidly redrawing the competitive landscape. Auctus Management Group (AMG) has strategically capitalized on these changes through a series of acquisitions, including RSS Infrastructure (RSSI) in 2012, Carillion Welding, and the creation of INFRA Skills. These moves have expanded AMG’s services to include:

  • NSAR (Rail Specific)
  • Health and Safety and Construction courses
  • Welding services
  • Overhead Line Electrification
  • Vegetation Management
  • Road Rail Access Points and Level Crossings
  • Civils/Construction solutions
  • Safety Critical Resource Services
  • Magnetic Safety Barrier Fencing
  • Magnetic Points Boards
  • Signalling Services
  • Track Warning Systems (sole provider in the UK)

Strategic Development and Enhanced Capabilities

Richard Toy, CEO of Auctus Management Group, commented:

“This acquisition forms part of our strategic development to expand our range of services and specialisms within the rail and infrastructure sectors. The ability to provide a specialist welding capability further enhances our strong reputation for providing niche services.”

Creating a New Industry Leader

The combination of RSSI, INFRA Skills, and Carillion Welding will create a new industry leader. This merger blends AMG’s industry-wide recognition for technological innovations and bespoke client solutions with Carillion Welding’s reputation for high-quality, reliable, and professional welding services. Richard Toy added:

“Carillion Welding is highly regarded throughout Network Rail, High Output, and rail principal contractors. We will work with Karl Dean, Head of Welding, to integrate the teams under the RSS Infrastructure banner. All pre-existing framework contracts will be taken over, forming part of our business growth strategy as we move into Control Period 6.”

Benefits for Employees and Clients

Karl Dean, Head of Welding, commented:

“Becoming part of RSS Infrastructure gives us a fantastic opportunity to increase our capabilities and connect our customers with innovative solutions to improve business processes and reduce accidents/incidents. Together, we will be better positioned to provide extensive welding services while delivering excellent customer service. This agreement ensures support continuity for our client base and meets all their infrastructure requirements as we move into Control Period 6.”

Opportunities for Employees

Employees will benefit from contracts comparable to those they had at Carillion and opportunities to expand their skill sets through training, apprenticeships, and staff development courses. The success of the Group and its subsidiary businesses over the last six years made this merger the preferred route. A successful agreement offers immediate value to the supply chain, ensuring that all contracts are secured.
